Sport: Softball - Pitcher and first base
"FCA is Important in my life because not that many years ago I almost completely walked away from God and my faith. I had to undergo a full spinal fusion surgery. I was taken out and away from the sport that I loved and called home. Without my sport, I quickly lost my self-worth and identity, spiraling into depression whilst looking for answers to questions that I couldn't find on my own. I felt like I was left with a huge hole in my life that I had no idea how to fill. Along this journey, God began to move once more in my heart which, had become angry and frustrated with him because I couldn't comprehend my situation. In one instantaneous second God flipped a switch and it all became clear to me when I was reading James 1:22-26. This scripture helped me to realize that I was putting my self-worth and my identity in my abilities as an athlete than rather where they should rest in Christ. I want to help other athletes see that they are not defined by their sports. Rather we are all just simply passing through this world once we rise to life in Christ called to be beacons of light for God's love and faithfulness wherever he has placed us. Using our talents to live on mission for him!"
