2021 Oklahoma FCA Hall of Champions
Jean Barrett
Jean Barrett was an All-American offensive lineman for the University of Tulsa and went on to play for 9 years for the San Francisco 49ers. As a pro athlete, Barrett became very active in FCA and spoke at numerous FCA Camps. Barrett founded Tulsa’s FCA inner-city camp 24 years ago, and it is still running today. As a volunteer, he underwrote and directed the first FCA Camp hosted outside the U.S. in Mexico in 2000, which ran for 10 years before the area was deemed too unsafe. Barrett founded the NFL Oklahoma Alumni / FCA Golf tournament six years ago to raise money for FCA Camp scholarships and to help fund athletic equipment in schools throughout Oklahoma. He serves on the Oklahoma FCA Endowment Board, chairs the governance committee, and serves on the local FCA board in Tulsa.
Hal Clifford
Hal Clifford has been actively involved in FCA since the early 1980s. He was the Board Chairman for Oklahoma FCA in 1991-94. Hal was instrumental in establishing the Sun Up /Sun Down Camp for Oklahoma City Public School students. This free camp continues today under different camp formats and has influenced thousands of students and coaches in their relationship with Christ. Since the 1990s, Hal has raised millions of dollars for FCA throughout the country through Profund Golf Marathons. Hal has a passion to serve Oklahoma FCA staff, coaches, and student athletes through his involvement with the Oklahoma FCA leadership board and endowment board. His investment of time, finances, encouragement, and love has influenced and impacted thousands of lives, not only in Oklahoma but throughout the country.
Steve Davis
As a 3-year starting quarterback, Steve Davis led the OU Sooners to a 32-1-1 record in the 1970s. He was a highly regarded public speaker since his days as a high schooler from Sallisaw. During his collegiate career and beyond, Davis spoke at many major events nationally and statewide. In 1975, during his senior season at Oklahoma, Steve spoke at the Billy Graham Crusade in Lubbock Texas. He was a national voice for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the University of Oklahoma. Following his years at OU, Davis enjoyed an 18-year network broadcast career with ABC, CBS and ESPN. Professionally, he would launch, grow, and sell multiple companies over his career. Steve began flying with his father at an early age and obtained his pilot’s license as a teenager. Flying was a passion for Steve. He was an active volunteer, speaker, and pilot during the early years of the FCA ministry in Oklahoma. Steve passed away as a result of a plane crash in 2013.
Nate Fleming
Nate Fleming was a valedictorian from Edmond North High School, where he excelled in basketball, tennis, and baseball. Nate's gifts were so much more than athletics. Always seen with a smile on his face, Nate's upbeat personality and positive attitude were truly infectious. During his time at Edmond North, Nate was an incredible leader in FCA and because of his influence, he impacted many lives for Christ. Nate was a walk-on basketball player at OSU and played for the legendary coach Eddie Sutton. Many times, Coach Sutton commented that Nate's work ethic and desire went far beyond his God-given ability contributing to the Cowboy's success to the Elite Eight in the 2000 NCAA tournament. Nate was an exceptional student and a gifted athlete and his influence at OSU continues to impact people today. Because of Nate’s influence and active participation at Edmond North and OSU, his legacy lives on through the lives of his family and friends.
Calvin Miller
Calvin Miller is the defensive coordinator at Langston University. He is in his 34th year of coaching at the collegiate level. Previously, Calvin coached at Evangel College, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Southern Nazarene University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. Calvin was an All-American at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before arriving at Oklahoma State, where he started for two years, including the 1974 Fiesta Bowl season. His experience as a professional player includes the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants as well as time with the Canadian Football League and the World Football League. Calvin worked for FCA living in Woodward and serving northwest Oklahoma and the panhandle. As an athlete, coach, and pastor, Calvin has a deep desire to impact lives for Christ through his gifts of speaking and encouraging.
The Bockus Family
The Bockus family has been actively involved in FCA since 1973. “Big Hank”, the patriarch of the Bockus family, served FCA as board chairman in 1984-85. Hank and Virginia, along with sons Henry, Bruce, Gordon, and daughter Jane have always made FCA an active part of their lives. After Hank and Virginia passed away, the Bockus children established an endowment fund that continues to be used today investing in the coaches ministry throughout the state of Oklahoma. The Bockus children and grandchildren continue to make FCA a priority through the legacy of influence and giving established by Big Hank Bockus.
